Disney Cruise Line Announcement

Disney Cruise Line has announced the order of a third new ship. Last year, they announced 2 new ships to debut in 2021 and 2022 but they will now build a third ship to debut in 2023.

“We decided two ships wouldn’t be enough to hold all of the exciting new experiences we have been dreaming up to take family cruise vacations to a whole new level with immersive Disney storytelling, world-class family entertainment, and imaginative innovations,” Walt Disney Parks and Resorts chairman Bob Chapek said.

The 3 ships will each be 135,000 tons and house around 1,250 staterooms. They will be slightly larger than the newest ships in the fleet, Fantasy and Dream.  They also dwarf the original ships in the fleet, Magic and Wonder with 875 staterooms. Believe it or not, those ships first set sail in 1998 and 1999.

Not much detail is available at this time but as with any Disney project, you know it will be incredible and innovative. Can’t wait.
