The holiday season is here and many will be traveling to see family and friends. Whether you are driving or flying, here a few things to keep in mind before you head out.
Your Car
If you are jumping in the family truckster and heading out on the road, be sure to get your car checked out before hand. Check the tires, breaks, fluids and anything for which you have a concern. The last thing you want is a breakdown especially during the holidays. The Airport If you are flying, you know it will be crowded at the airport. Be at the airport at least two hours early for a domestic flight and if you are flying international, three hours. Remember, you have to deal with security and they do usually close the doors about 10 minutes or more before the scheduled departure. Gifts Many will be flying for Christmas and packing those gifts for family and friends. Don't wrap the gifts that are in your carry on. Security might have to unwrap them. Plan on taking care of that when you get to your destination. Your Home There are a few things you can do to protect your home while away for the holidays. Use timers on your interior lights and motion lights on the exterior. Stop the mail and newspaper while you are gone so they don't pile up and indicate you are not at home. And have a friend or family member stop by and check on the house while you are gone. For more tips on keeping your home safe while on vacation, check out a previous blog . Patience One of the most important things you will pack is patients. Millions of others are traveling and there will be delays. Could be weather issues, staffing issues or even just congestion but be patient. If you give your self plenty of time, you will get where your going.
