Carnival will restart cruise operations here in the US with the Carnival Vista and Breeze from Galveston, TX and the Carnival Horizon from Miami. Today Carnival announced rules surrounding the Vista and Breeze sailings for July. For those sailing on Vista or Breeze in the month of July, you will be required to be fully vaccinated. To meet that requirement, you will need to prove both doses and at least had the second dose at the minimum 14 days prior to your sailing date. Unfortunately, this would exclude kids under the age of 12. These requirements currently only apply to July sailings with August sailing info coming out soon. In addition, protocols for these sailings is expected in the next couple days. Carnival believes they would be unable to provide the cruise experience guest expect with the restrictions required by the CDC for unvaccinated passengers. "We appreciate the progress and support for our U.S. restart from the CDC and other key federal agencies; however, the current CDC requirements for cruising with a guest base that is unvaccinated will make it very difficult to deliver the experience our guests expect, especially given the large number of families with younger children who sail with us. As a result, our alternative is to operate our ships from the U.S. during the month of July with vaccinated guests,” said Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line. Carnival Vista will sail 7 Night Western Caribbean itineraries from Galveston beginning July 3 and the Carnival Breeze will sail 4 & 5 Night Western Caribbean itineraries from Galveston beginning July 15. Carnival Horizon is also scheduled to restart on July 4, 2021 but no decision have been made regarding vaccinations. Carnival is currently working with the CDC and Governor DeSantis on finding a resolution regarding the ban on vaccination requirements in Florida. John stated they will have more information later this week no later than Friday June 11. I will update through Twitter and Facebook as more information is announced. Mike Miller |
