Boston, MA is the birthplace of the United States and home of so much history. Let's look at five historical sites you can visit.
Boston Tea Party Ships and Museum
Most people know the story of the Boston Tea Party and how it was a response to a new tea tax requiring all the colonies buy their tea from on place. Take a tour of the replica ship, see remaining boxes of tea and visit the museum and learn more about the event and what led up to it.
The Freedom Trail
Beginning at Boston Common the Freedom Trail is a 2.5 mile walk that takes you b 16 historically significant sites including the Old Corner Bookstore, Old South Meeting House, Paul Reveres House, the site of the Boston Massacre and much more. You can experience the trail either on your own or on walking tours with costumed guides.
Lexington and Concord
In April 1775 the War for Independence began in Lexington and continued to Concord as the Militia Men met the British regulars as they arrived in order to destroy military supplies. The shot heard around the world. These sites are located about 25 to 30 minutes outside of Boston and can be visited by car, public transportation or guided tour.
Bunker Hill Monument
June 17, 1775 was the Battle of Bunker Hill, the first major battle of the Revolutionary War. Although we lost that battle, the Continental Army showed it was tough enough and strong enough to take on the most powerful military in the world. What is interesting is the battle actually took place on Breads Hill. The monument stands at the end of the Freedom Trail and features a museum with dioramas and artifacts from the battle.
Site of the Boston Massacre
On March 5, 1770 tensions reached a boiling point as British Soldier confronted protesters in front of the Customs House. Five men were killed that day and led to the battles and the war that followed. You can visit this site while on the Freedom Trail mentioned earlier.

I have a passion for travel and believe travel is about experiences. Experiences create memories and are the stories we tell to friends and family - even with a little fudging on the facts.
