Review Carnival Liberty Entertainment

A substantial part of the cruise experience is the entertainment. This can include, but not limited to, the main shows, live bands, game shows, trivia and comedy.  Carnival has created a team of people made up of the Playlist Production Performers and Fun Squad. On my most recent cruise on the Carnival Liberty, they did not disappoint.

First let me say, in the past, I have not been a fan of the shows. Not that they were not good, I just found other activities I preferred to do instead. For the past few cruises, I have a seen at least one of the main shows and really enjoyed it. On this one, I took in America Rocks, which was performed by Playlist Productions and consisted of songs from the 70s, 80s and some from the 90s. The show also featured the main band on the ship who was really on point. There were pyrotechnics and other special effects that added to the show. On a side note, I took the Behind the Fun Tour so I had the chance to go back stage and learn a little about the show. Including, for the pyrotechnics. They have cameras and sensors to make sure there is no one in the way. Also, they also talked about how much of it is automated and we got to meet Anna who is the voice coach. Overall the show was awesome but I am not a fan of the male singers. I just don’t feel they sound like the original singers enough like the women do.
Throughout the ship during the evening there is always something going on including live music. On the Liberty, live music can be found at the Casino Bar and in the Flowers Lobby in the atrium which can be enjoyed from decks 3, 4 or 5. If you enjoy the more amateur sounds of Karaoke, you can find that in one of the lounges each night as well. I really liked the fact Carnival has added county music singers to their ships and it works well in the Casino Bar. Found that to be true on the Vista too. The ships band was outstanding. Most of the time you would see them in the lobby but believe they played in the Casino Bar a few times. Typically they will rotate throughout the different venues.

Tevin the Cruise Direcior
Two of the nights the Cruise Director Tevin hosted music trivia parties which you will find on most of their ships and are a lot of fun. We attended the Motown Trivia with a special tribute to Aretha Franklin. The way it works is, they will play parts of songs from the genre and you guess what they are. After that they play the whole song and everyone sings along. When I say everyone, I mean everyone. The Cruise Director, the Fun Squad and the crowd gave off a ton of energy.
One of the staples on the Carnival Ships is the Hasbro Game Show. This is a lot of fun to watch and if you have the nerve, you get to participate. Basically they will pick participants to make up the teams from the audience by asking questions. If you get their attention and get the answer right, you get on stage. This time they played Bowling Yahtzee and Operation like skeet ball.  In the past I have seen them play Connect Four Basketball. These are all life size games so easy to see from the audience. Throughout the cruise, they will have opportunities to play the popular board games in groups or you can even check them out from the library.

Now one of the entertainment options I did not go to was the comedy. Almost every night on your cruise they will have a comedian usually doing two shows. One family friendly (which I prefer) and one adult. Other options include the piano bar, night club and of course the casino. You will only get bored if you want to .

I hope you enjoyed this part of the review of Carnival Liberty. If you have questions, don’t hesitate to give me a call or text904-534-4318.
