During an earnings call yesterday, Royal Caribbean Group announced the end of testing on certain sailings for certain passengers. With the announcement earlier this month by the CDC they will no long require reporting and have enforce rules on cruise lines regarding the COVID 19 protocols, the cruise lines have been re evaluating their protocols. Yesterday Royal Caribbean announced as of August 8, 2022, pre cruise COVID 19 testing will not be required for five night or shorter cruises for vaccinated guest. For sailings six nights or longer and for unvaccinated guest on all sailings, the current testing requirement will continue. This goes for both Royal Caribbean and Celebrity Cruises under the Royal Caribbean Group. The impact of this will be felt more for Royal Caribbean guest as Celebrity does not offer many shore cruise options. Royal Caribbean on the other hand, with Mariner of the Seas, Independence of the Seas, Freedom of the Seas, Navigator of the Seas and others, short three, four and five night cruise options are plentiful. Other cruise lines like Virgin Voyages and Viking Cruise Lines have already dropped the testing requirement. hopes are we will see this trend continue with all the cruise lines as testing is getting more difficult to get as well as expensive. As with any of these announcements, the protocols can change at any time so its wise to visit the cruise line website on a regular basis to ensure you are meeting all the requirements. I have a passion for travel and believe travel is about experiences. Experiences create memories and are the stories we tell to friends and family - even with a little fudging on the facts.
