Traveling solo is not as bad as it seems. The myth that its lonely and boring is just that, a myth. Whether it be cruising or backpacking through Europe, there can be benefits to going it alone. You’re on your own schedule, get to participate in activities you want without someone else’s input and honestly meet more people.
I know it sounds strange but you do meet more people. Why, you’re more likely to talk to strangers because, well, who else are you going to talk to? But yes, when you go to dinner on a cruise most of the time you are seated with other passengers and some cruise lines will attempt to seat you with other single travelers. You might be on a tour and have that ride on a tour bus and strike up a conversation.
Now of course when traveling solo, you need to consider safety as well.
