These are some tips I have for traveling when you have to fly.
Arrive Early. It is recommended to arrive at the airport 1 1/2 hours prior to domestic and 2 hours prior to your international flight. But add 30 minutes to that for good measure. You are better off sitting at the gate for a little longer than running to the gate.
Check luggage at the curb. For most flights you can check your luggage at the curb outside the terminal. This will save you time and can avoid some long lines at the counter.
Be ready for security. You will need to take out any electronics larger than a cell phone, take off your shoes and also take out your zip lock bag of liquids so have these hand and easy to remove. Also, take change, your phone and anything else in your pockets and put it in a spot in your carry on. Remember, you are early so you can re organize once you get to the gate.
Take an empty water bottle. Of course we all know you cannot take water through security so take a reusable water bottle with you and after security you can get water at the water fountain. Keeping hydrated while traveling is important.
Last but not least, pack your patience. Delays and cancellations can happen due to factors like weather, mechanical or staffing. But don't lose you mind over it. Don't yell at staff. You will get where you are going.
I have a passion for travel and believe travel is about experiences. Experiences create memories and are the stories we tell to friends and family - even with a little fudging on the facts. So let me create a vacation you can brag about!
