Great news from the Bahamas Ministry of Tourism this week. Starting on May 1, a negative PCR Test is no longer required for fully vaccinated travelers. This is great news as cruise lines like Royal Caribbean announce cruises sailing from Nassau Bahamas beginning this summer.
For those who are fully vaccinated, you will need to show proof you have not only had the full dose but it has been 14 days. You will upload this to the Bahamas Health Visa Application all travelers will need to complete.
The health visa can be completed at Bahamas Ministry of tourism site. You will also find additional information about restrictions on activates and dining. The application does take 48 hours to process and has a small fee based on length of stay.
Now if you are not vaccinated, you will need to have had a negative COVID PCR test 5 days prior to arrival in the Bahamas. As with the vaccinated travelers, you will need to upload proof of the test result.
Also remember, as of January 26th, the CDC mandated that you must provide a negative COVID 19 test upon return to the US. My hope is the US will relax that restriction for those vaccinated. At the link above, you will find a list of locations in the Bahamas where you can get the test completed.
As we move through the summer, I am expecting more and more countries opening up and relaxing restrictions. You are already seeing it with Greece, Israel and other European countries. So if you are looking at travel for 2021, you might need to jump through a few hoops but you can go go go.
