Carnival Cruise Line Announces Ships Leaving Fleet
Earlier this week Carnival announced the Carnival Sensation would be delayed in her return to service. Because of this, the Carnival Ecstasy is being moved to Mobile from Jacksonville and the Carnival Spirit is being moved to Jacksonville. Yesterday Carnival announced the Carnival Sensation and Ecstasy will be leaving the fleet. Carnival Sensation will not restart operations and Carnival Ecstasy will sail her last cruise on October 10, 2022. This is being done to make room for all the new XL class ships coming to the fleet over the next two years. For Jacksonville, the Carnival Spirit will sail from Jacksonville from March 7 through April 9, 2022 and then a new ship will be assigned to Jacksonville. Excited to see what ship we get.
Disney Wish Delayed
Disney Cruise Line announced her brand new Disney Wish will be delayed in her premier. Rather than her initial inaugural in June 2022, she will have her inaugural cruise on July 14, 2022. Those booked on the original sailing will be moved to the new inaugural but will have the choice of sailing other dates through December 2023. Disney Wish is the newest in the Disney Cruise fleet featuring a Cindarella stairway, the AquaMouse water slide and much more including Marvel and Star Wars. This will be another great option for families to sail Disney Cruise Line.
Princess MedalionPay Expands Onshore
Contactless payments has been expanding on a daily basis but in the cruise busines, Princess has led with the Medallion. This is a coin shaped device you can wear on your wrist, around your neck or just put in in your pocket that opens your door, helps locate you for bar service, and allows you to pay on the ship without any true effort. Well the contactless pay feature is now going to be available at select stores, restaurants and more in Alaska, Mexico and the Caribbean, At this time, 65 locations are using the technology with plans for many more including in Europe. You must have a credit card attached to your on board account in order to use it ashore. To me this is a game changer allowing you to go ashore and leave your credit cards where they are safe, on the ship in the safe. Mike Miller
